Something that caught my moment for a while.
Write about your first name: Are you named after someone or something? Are there any stories or associations attached to it? If you had the choice, would you rename yourself?
Nasri. My full name is Nasri Nasir, ‘Nasir’ being my dad’s name. That’s how they normally do it. My name goes first, then my father’s name.
I’ve a few stories behind my name. Mum told me that they named me after a guy called Nazri Nasir, a retired football player in Singapore whom i believe was popular among the Soccer community, in Singapore. I knew very little of him except that he was quite the legend, winning a few tournaments in Asia.
I think back then, my parents might have look up to him, and since the name was so popular, my dad ‘Nasir’ decides to give me that name, except changing the Z with and S, but why? I have no idea. Maybe it might sound nicer, or unique, or could have been because they wanted me to be a soccer player, a legend.
My dad used to be a goalkeeper back during his younger days, that’s what he said, or at least that’s what I know so far, maybe that’s why he named me that way. It could also be because my name and his name, is just switching the letter ” I and R “.
I think i have to say, not all kids are given a chance to be wanted by their parents to play soccer, but my parents used to send me over for soccer school training, when i was at 9 or so, but being the so ‘lost in my own world’ type of person, i found talking to the birds near the soccer field during training much more interesting then playing soccer itself, eventually having me lost interest in the game and not attending the classes, and so i guess they’ve agreed then that I’m not a ‘soccer’ person. (Sorry Mum and Dad! )
In Arabic, Nasri would mean ‘of Victory’ , that’s what I managed to found out. If that was what they thought of when trying to find me a name, then that would be a really amazing name. Of Victory!
Victory it shall be, by the power invested in me, the name of Nasri’ you shall be victorious!
Also, when meeting newly met strangers who ask me what’s my name, I would answer “Nasri” and responses i might get would be like, “you mean like the famous soccer, Samir Nasri?”
I would gladly then say “yeah like that Samir Nasri”
and even though I’m not much of a soccer person, I do occasionally support the guy who m I’ve the same name with, whom used to be with Arsenal back then, though now he’s with Manchester City. Still support Arsenal though when there’s a show going on.
So, in theory, does having a name ‘Nasri’ links to soccer?
and photographer with the name Nasri
and a lebanese classical singer with the name of Nasri . See I’m not alone!

Lately, I’ve found a cool new video, a guy who’s apparently pumping gas at a station was surprised by PumpCast News, Tonight show with Jay Leno.. Talk about showmanship. They reminded me that we should learn to express ourselves more freely. I really enjoy the way they sang, and the connection they had with each other. Such a sweet couple.
Here’s the second video, where they eventually got invited to the show.
I kinda imagined whether we would all do the same thing if approached like this in the gas station, would you?
Personally for me, i might have the shock of my life, and perhaps sing some random Westlife Song, or Backstreet Boys, and even N’sync (POP baby) perhaps other than the normal Top 40 radio song.
Which got me thinking, I need to go karaoke more now to improve by frog voice. 😉
Some related articles for you too!
I don’t know why, but I’ve been seeing a lot of elevator videos recently. Its like the world around me has gone into a fiesta of elevators or something, either that or there’s like a fetish for elevators. Elevators pranks especially.
That reminds me of that 50 shades of Grey book I;m still reading halfway, where ‘Grey’ muttered, “What is it about elavators”, . Well Grey despite the fact that you’ve just used it to your advantage and smooch your way through.
The first video i saw was this.
I totally would freak out if this were to happen to me. I laughed at the point of it their reactions, but I’m myself such a
scaredly NORMALLY fine ‘cat’ (meowwwwww….) , but I came home just now in the lift recalling that moment, definitely not a good thing if that really happen.
But this, this is really cool.
The things that people do, yes with elevators. I wonder what else they do with elevators. I wish they had a elevator that gives free coke whenever I’m taking the lift heading to my classroom floor. 😀
This week, on the hottest latest and cool music I’ve listened to, while browsing through so many videos of Youtube, I came across a familiar name ‘Steve Aoki’. One of the best to chart the Electronic Music scene, was quite suprised by this new video though.
The though of combining styles and different genres of music to me seems like the whole is evolving into a new era, and that’s music showing its creativity.
Never heard of Iggy Azelea before, but apparently she’s got it good with this video. Other videos i believe’s very hip-hop or from the hood, but I still like the video. ‘Beat Down’.
Here’s some other tunes I like to share this week.
What are you listening to this week? 🙂
oh LOL! I just realized I missed my previous week post. :O ooopsss! TEEHEE ^^
Hey guys, this post is dedicated towards influential music that I’m listening to. So the catch is I’m going to be posting a few song(s), be it new or old. With this, hopefully I’m able to give you guys a more understanding of why i view this songs and share the music 🙂
My mum loves Akon.
I recall talking to her in the car driving off the expressway, radio was playing hits, and out of nowhere, an Akon song came out, Mum asked me, “Who’s this artist, I hear him every time I’m on the radio. I like his songs”.
Till now even when i ask her, her fav artist would still be AKON. When asked she said “somehow i can feel what he’s saying in his songs, and plus i can catch what he’s saying unless the other people who’s singing too fast (referring to rappers) “.
I just laughed on and on.
This video of Wonder Girls – Like Money Featuring Akon, is a brand new track I’ve just listened to which features a cool concept, which reminds me of ‘TRON’ . Don’t you think so?
Wondergirls World Wide Sensation
I recall the awesome period of when Wonder Girls went boom and rise to fame with their song of ‘Nobody’ in 2009. 27 million views as of now over on Youtube for their music Video for Nobody, and one thing that I like about them is the ability for them to merge themselves to go for not only the Korean Market industry but also in the American Music Market. I wish more of my people here would think the same way, and we have a long way to go.
Their success is extraordinary and the group has been on so many tours across the globe. It is so influential that every time the song gets played, I can’t help myself but to dance to the moves like in the music video.
In final, I think that both artists have done such a great impact on people’s lives, and I love the way they bring out their music to people. They both have really nice voices and the song right now, its a really amazing upbeat song. Love the beats 🙂
What are you listening to this week? 🙂 Share it with me !
