Why I went to Malaysia For a Good Hangout Session ?

Visiting Johor Malaysia For Movies and Food

Visiting Johor Malaysia For Movies and Food

Recently, I went for a short trip to the neighbour country, Johor, Malaysia, with my group of fun buddies to hang out.

We started our journey of crossing the border, and headed towards the City Square, well-known shopping centre, you can’t miss it if you’re coming in from Singapore.

We purchased tickets to watch Pacific Rim, by far the best robot movie I’ve ever watched truly , and we went to break fast at a nearby restaurant, Singgah Selalu.

Comparing the cost of the movie tickets prices here in Singapore and In Malaysia, I can say that it does make a difference.

The price of the ticket we went to watch over at City Square was about RM$8 which is about S$4, considering that a really good deal because I remember having to pay about S$7.50 here in my area.

We did stop by an arcade before the start of our movie, so like curious boys we went and release the inner kid in us.

After that whole scene, and the watching the movie, it was already past our break fast time. Didn’t expect the movie to end late, but that didn’t stop us from going our intended direction.

We decided to take a cab to Singgah Slalu Restaurant which took about 10 mins from where we were, and the cab charge was a decent RM$8-12(one way) , depending on how the driver chooses to go, it was still okay because we shared it amongst ourselves.

I had the chance to savour the Singgah Selalu Fried Rice, a Teh O’ Limau and Roti John that adds up to only about $RM 15, which if I convert to SGD currency roughly about S$7.That’s actually a pretty good food deal. We were all so full by the time we finish. It was my first time trying out the Black Pepper deer meat and it tasted really good.

We spent about RM$90 altogether which we divide together equally, because we’re happy with sharing our food.

If there was something that I can say about the day it would be

  1. It was worth the money ( I had only $30 with me and spent $20 in altogether for movies, food and more food to bring back home with )
  2. It was good fun. (It feels great to just chill back, relax and enjoy a good dinner with friends)

In overall, I recommend you to try this doing this with your own group of friends.

What do you think of this? Have you done something similar?

Daily Prompt: You, the Sandwich

If a restaurant were to name something after you, what would it be? Describe it.

The burgers out of all the other burgers, will be named the Stoner Burger. It packs a punch that makes you want to sit there stoning and enjoying every oomph bite.

The duo stacking thick beef covered with melting cheese that oozes out each time you decide to put your mouth in, will make you wonder why you’ve ever want to eat anywhere else,

Fresh juicy tomatoes and crunched lettuces giving you the natural classic burger wrapped in a layer of fried egg that goes in between the thick beef. Patties with soft tender quality bread, that’s easy to deal but still huge in size.

Served with huge french fries, and a good warm mash potato, by the time you’re done, you’ll be Stoning in your seat.

Stoneriffic!

Thai Express for Dinner

Yam Woon Sen Talay – picture taken from http://www.foodspotting.com/207635-thao-nguyen

I went out for an gathering session after work today, and we went to eat at Thai Express. I wasn’t really feeling that hungry since i ate twice the meal at work, so i decided to get something light instead. Picture above was not taken by me, but i did manage to find one that looks exactly like what i ate.

My friend recommended me the Yam Woon Sen Talay, which also means ‘Glass Noodle with Seafood Salad on the sides section of the ThaiExpress Menu and at first taste, it was absolutely lovely. The taste of the glass noodle with this sweet spicy sauce they had around the dish just gave that extra bit of uniqueness. It comes with some prawns which was nice as well.

I would definitely recommend this to those who feels like having a light meal, and wants to taste something special yet maintain that diet.

Best of all, the price was at $9.50++ which is pretty decent, I top it up with an extra plate of rice, for $1, and just drank ice water which was already good enough for me.

Daily Prompt: Five a Day

You’ve being exiled to a private island, and your captors will only supply you with five foods. What do you pick?

Cíes Islands in Galicia

I have been thinking about the 5 foods that i could use to survive on a island. To be honest I’ve never been thrown in some deserted island or pu through a position where i had to choose what kind of food there is, so i managed to actually find out more from the pro’s of survival, googled a few link’s but i think this was the most helpful.

http://www.livescience.com/11377-7-perfect-survival-foods.html

Food for Protein : Beans help out with protein, calcium and iron, all the basic things and now they can be easily canned beans available so it’s a fast and very helpful in case of emergencies. Just gulp these down and I believe I’m good to go. Check the expiration date though.

Food for Vitamin : I’m going to go for dried fruits. Though it might not be a full satisfying meal, i believe that dried fruits such as dates and berries go all out for the vitamins that I need in order to still survive long enough.

Food for Long life span – Brown Rice. Brown rice, doesn’t last longer than normal rice, but it can be kept for quite a long time. Brown rice contains lots of fibres, and based on experience, i don’t have to eat so much of brown rice to make myself full.

Food for Long time Survival : I don’t if anyone else agrees with me on this, but I’m going to go for seed potatoes. You can actually grow a potato from a potato but having a seed potato would be the best. The average growth of a potato that’s ready is about 6 weeks, which will take awhile, but definitely worth it because it takes really little care to grow them and yet they give a lot of yield.

Last but not least : Water, some good clean water will do good until i manage to figure out how to some filtration device that helps me do some good enough water to survive as well.

There’s so many other choices that i have wanted to make and decided to choose before, but i think these are my 5 choices.

How about you?

Daily Prompt: Hate to Love

Today’s prompt was this , Tell us about a guilty pleasure that you hate to love.

Oh wow, a guilty pleasure. Until now, i believe i had a guilty pleasure of my home cooked food. Just about a while ago, I can’t help but to indulge in another round of serving of my  grandma’s delicious cooking. She cooked some really nice noodles with ‘laksa’ and  took some burger patties, cut them into pieces and had it done with black pepper sauce. I don’t know if it’s something about home cooked food, but the fact that it’s prepared there for you to eat with no additional cost of having to pay for another one, like outside food, unless you’re on a high tea meal, and those ‘pay once, eat till you drop’ restaurants. 🙂 and home cooked food just taste so much better to me 🙂

I have this habit since young to go to the kitchen, and grab another serving, telling myself  “oh its okay, it’s just a bit” , and when it’s done, i’ll grab a little more, sooner, a smaller serving as I come and go again from the kitchen to the living room, while watching TV.  This habit sooner developed into an unconscious state( bad ,really don’t follow this ) that I finished the whole entire pot of rice by myself. It comes worse especially if you’ve taken the serving and realize that the leftover is too little for someone else to eat, so you decide to take them all. (Oh the guilt of it after seeing my Santa’s stomach buldging out. No offence Santa’, i know Christmas is coming )

This addiction, of loving home cooked food, its what I enjoy but really hate to love! 🙂 Still can’t get the addiction off, but at times i try to resist .. —- sometimes. 😀
